It has, once again, been quite a while since my last entry. Apparently having a baby keeps you busy - who knew??
Anyway, I thought I'd take this moment to just braindump about some of the things going on in my life.
We just finished moving about a month ago; considering moving with a 7 month old? I don't recommend it! Whew one of the worst experiences I can imagine! We moved in with my parents who are also our main source of childcare and it has been wonderful! I love my parents so much and it has been so heartwarming to watch them become grandparents. Not to mention it's also been a huge help to just have them around to help out.
Another big thing that's in progress right now: I am leaving my job to be a stay at home mom! I've really wanted to be a stay at home mom since having our daughter but it just wasn't really feasible, financially, until we moved in with my parents. I am so so excited but it is a little bittersweet, as well. I really love my job and my coworkers and I'm sad to be leaving. I honestly wouldn't leave for anything else, but it just feels like at home with Mabel is where I'm supposed to be, right now. So I'm looking forward to the freedom of our days and doing as many fun things as we can. And I'll try to keep this journal updated every so often about some of those fun things. I'd love to think that maybe one day she'll grow up and click around Mom's little website and be fascinated.

In other news, my dad and I took Mabel out for her very first Free Comic Book Day! (Well, first if you don't count the one in which she was in my belly, and I laughed so hard I peed my pants - fun times!) This was an event I had been looking forward to for years! My dad and I (and sometimes my mom, sometimes my husband) have participated every year since like the early 2010s and it's such a special thing for us. We look forward to it for months and we make a whole day of it, planning which comic shops we'll go to and which books we wanna get...and then we blow half a paycheck on comics! It's a lot of fun and so I was really looking forward to bringing Mabel along for the first time.
We had a great time! And I was very excited to get her a comic (really a preview of an upcoming graphic novel) called The Whole Wide World of Mabel Mulligan.
It was meant to be, obviously.
What else has been going on?
My first Mother's Day was really lovely! Calvin and I went to brunch with my parents and we always have a good time together. And I got some really nice gifts, my favorites probably being a book embosser (one for my books and one for Mabel's) and a silhouette of Mabel that my mom made.
